Preview of Rico Can Can Yarn
The sales rep from Rico Design called yesterday to show me a new yarn that will be launched in August. Rico are the originators of the popular Pompon yarn which was a bit hit last winter. They are continuing to add colours to the Pompon range but they aren’t resting from development either. For those knitters who didn’t get on with the Pompon yarn or knitters looking for something a bit different with which to knit a fancy scarf this Autumn, then you might very well like the new Can Can yarn.
Rico Can Can comes in 200g balls, with a free scarf pattern on the ball band. Just one ball knitted on 8mm needles will make a glamourous frilly scarf. It has a palette of eight solid and variegated colours. I’m looking forward to getting hold of a ball and making one myself.

What’s the similar yarn you are talking of? I don’t remember seeing anything quite like Can Can before.

Can’t tell exactly from picture but the finished effect looks not unlike a Wendy yarn that was out a few years back called KnitIt. With it, you didn’t use the yarn round the needle to make stitches, it was like a knitted tape & you picked up some threads every inch or so and passed the previous threads over , to make a stitch – if that makes sense!
Still, think our company’s got it on order so will be interesting to see.

I have made several scarves with the wonderful wool can can. the colours are really lovely. it maybe £10.00 a ball. but i can make two scarves out of that one ball.
one fairly long- then the other one ideal for a neck scarf.
i was unsure if i was able to sort out the knitting instructions
on the inside of the ball band, it is such small printing.
however i mastered it.

I love the rico can can wool and have made 6 scarves already and have orders waiting.
I make 2 scarves out of the 200g ball and they are very popular.
