Twilleys Tunic

Last week I finished knitting this tunic from Twilleys Freedom Purity pattern book 466 and using Twilley’s Freedom Purity yarn which is a natural eco friendly yarn – a mix of new wool (85%) and alpaca (15%).

The pattern was very easy to follow and I didn’t come across any mistakes.  I particular like the bit of cabling on the sleeves. The whole jacket was pretty quick to knit and fits well.  I think I shall probably wear it over a long sleeved t-shirt as the weather gets colder.

Days in Provence Quilt

I’m very excited to show you this quilt, made by my Mum, using the House on the Hill patternDays in Provence.

Days in Provence Quilt from House on the Hill

My Mum recently got a new Bernina sewing machine complete with embroidery unit and she was able to use it to do the four embroidered lavender flowers as well as the writing.

This is going to hang on display in the shop for a while, but I hope that it might inspire others to have a go.  It would be a good quilt to try for those who are new to quilting as there aren’t any small or tricky shapes to deal with.

Kidsilk Haze Shawl

A customer recently emailed me a photo of a garment she’d just finished.

Shawl knitted in Rowan Kidsilk Haze

This shawl/coat is knitted with Rowan Kidsilk Haze and the pattern was from Rowan Magazine 45.  It must have taken sooo much patience to complete.  It looks amazing!

Hooty and Tweet

Lesley, one of our customers, emailed me this morning with a photo of Hooty and Tweet which she made for a friend who is mad about owls.

I think they’re great!  You can make your own owls with the Melly and Me pattern available in our shop

Rowan Lima Jumper

I thought you might like to see a photo of a jumper that a customer recently completed. I think it looks great and really suits her.

The pattern is called Maeve from the Rowan Lima Collection and uses Rowan’s Lima yarn. If you’d like to know yarn quantities, then just ask and I’ll look it up for you.  I reckon a sleeveless version would look rather nice too.

I love to see what my customers are making, so do feel free to send me a photo!

Pretty girls cardigan

One of my customers emailed me a photo of a cardigan she’s just finished knitting. It is so pretty, I just had to share it with you.

sublime 628 cardigan

Cardigan from Sublime book 628

The knitting pattern comes from Sublime book 628 and is actually the cover image called Millie.  The pattern calls for bobbles on the trim and a button to fasten it, but this has been modified to omit the bobbles and the button has been replaced with a satin ribbon.  I think the ribbon really makes the whole garment!

Sublime fingerless gloves knitting pattern

I thought I would show something that one of my customers in Chicago has recently knitted for her granddaughter.

Fingerless mitts from Sublime Accessories book

These fingerless gloves (or mitts as the pattern book refers to them) are from Sublime’s new Accessories book.  Made with Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK means that they are soft and warm and ideal as Winter approaches.

Fingerless gloves aren’t to everyone’s taste though, so the same book features a normal pair of mittens too.

Of if you’d prefer to knit a normal pair of gloves, then there is a pattern in Sublime’s new Extra Fine Merino 4 Ply book.  These gloves only take 1 ball of Sublime’s Extra Fine Merino 4 Ply and are knitted on 2 needles, rather than the usual way which is on a set of 4 double pointed needles.  Handy for those knitters who are a bit scared to try knitting with DPNs or who find it a bit tricky handling 4 or 5 needles at once!
