Hulu’s January Sale has already started, with many good reductions on yarns, fabric and pattern books.  Do browse our sale pages and pick up a good deal to get you started on your new year projects.

I think that the simplicity of it, makes it more effective.  It’s just made up of diamonds in different greens for the tree and a plain background.  The little lights were something she picked up at the craft show at Westpoint, Exeter back in September, but you could thread glass beads on to some thin ribbon to achieve something similar.

Then in the evening I went to a fashion show in Bovey Tracy, where not only did I have a nice meal with lots of other knitting friends, we saw lots of garments from Debbie Bliss’s Autumn collections, got to try them on afterwards and best of all… I got to meet Debbie Bliss herself!  She seemed relaly nice, wanting to hear all about the shop and telling me about how she goes about choosing new yarns.  I was quite chuffed to be able to chat with her.

The Duchy Square Centre for Creativity in Princetown will play host to the Textile Trade Fair, designed to connect major suppliers of textile materials from across the country with both existing textile practitioners and those wishing to take up the craft.

Among the major names already signed up to take part in the Textile Trade Fair include The Handweavers Gallery based in London, a real coup as they are an established, highly reputable company with a worldwide customer base, who rarely do trade fairs.

Well known natural dyer Helen Melvin from Wales, the only person in the UK to produce ink from natural sources for textile dying is also attending along with Claire Crompton from Gunnislake in Cornwall, one of the country’s most highly regarded professional knitwear designer.

Lesley Prior of Devon Fine Fibres from Tiverton, renowned for high quality wool from her Bowmont sheep flock – the only flock of its kind in the world – has also agreed to attend.

Duchy Square resident weaver Jillian Morris is also taking a stand at the fair to supply recycled sari yarns and Injabulo buttons with her daughter Hannah Parsons Irankunda under their business name Zimame. The Injabulo range is particularly popular with textile practitioners.

And of course… Hulu will be there with some of our yarns and fabric too!
