Beginner’s Guide to Patchwork and Quilting

If you’re new to patchwork and quilting or want to have a go but don’t know where to start, then this book is just for you.

Charmed Beginnings by Jo Baddeley is arranged into 10 lessons and projects, starting with basic skills and simple designs and working up gently to slightly more complex quilt patterns.

All the quilt designs make use of Moda Charm Packs which are a selection of pre-cut 5 inch (12.5cm) fabric squares which complement one another in pattern and colour so you know that your finished quilt will look harmonious.

Throughout the book you’ll find tips and hints on everything from the best needles to use through to ensuring that your finished blocks are square.

Moda Lumiere de Noel jelly rolls and charm packs

Moda’s Lumiere de Noel by French General is one of the Christmas fabric collections, but I wouldn’t say that it is particularly Christmassy. French General’s collections all have a vintage French theme to them and this is no different.  The color palette includes taupe, creams and French reds which could be used at any time of the year.

We’ve got jelly rolls, charm pack and layer cakes in this delightful collection and for inspiration there’s a free pattern for a table runner made in Lumiere de Noel fabrics or a table cloth pattern over at the Moda Bakeshop website.
