Knitting Traditions Magazine Winter 2010
Knitting socks is a very popular pastime for many knitters and there are lots of way to do it – cuff-down, toe-up, with the magic loop method, two at a time… Well in this issue of Knitting Traditions you can learn the technique of knitting socks: two at a time, one INSIDE the other! That’s right – one inside the other.
Knitting Traditions magazine is special issue from Interweave Press which contains over 40 knitting projects including socks, shawls and scarves, items for baby, a variety of hand coverings, hats, squares and edgings, and finger puppets. The contents for Knitting Traditions were selecte from previous issues of Piecework magazine, most of which are no longer available. (Piecework is another publication from Interweave Press).
The interesting thing about this magazine is that each project is presented with its historical context. You can read about the tradition of knitting throughout the centuries and and techniques from around the world. So there’s traditional turkish knitted stockings, lace knitting from New Zealand, shawls from Russia and the Faroe Islands, Swedish mittens and much, much more.
- colourful swedish mittens
- knitted baby socks
- luxurious cap
- squares and edgings
- Stork Nest Scarf
- Wild Apple Pullover

Knitscene magazine is on its way
Knitscene is an American knitting magazine that is published twice a year by Interweave Press. When I saw the preview pictures of the featured knitting patterns last week, I was wowed. I fancied knitting almost all of the patterns! Judging by a recent discussion on Ravelry, I’m not the only one to be impressed by this issue!
I was so impressed that I have arranged to become a stockist of both Knitscene magazine and Interweave Knits magazine.
Usual stockists of Knitscene here in the UK have sold out but we’ve got some on their way. So if you’ve been trying to get hold of the winter/spring 2010 issue you can preorder a copy of Knitscene here.

Knitting Winter Issue

Knitting Magazine Winter 2009
If you read Knitting magazine, then you might have seen the Top Knits column, this month written by me!
Of course, the issue is packed full of great knitting patterns: a unique kimono, luxury mohair jumper and funnel neck jumper are fantastic pieces for those up for a cable challenge, while the beanie, scarf and gauntlets can be done in a weekend, making a great gift set and Rowan’s new kidsilk ribbon wrap is perfect for Christmas parties. There are also two super cute Christmas decorations and a festive table place set to get into the spirit. Read a profile on American knit designer and blogger Jared Flood or learn a new technique – reversible knitting.
