Rico Creative Filz and Fun Magic
If you enjoy felting projects then you might be interested in this felting yarn from Rico Design. It’s called Creative Filz and Fun Magic and what is different about it, is the variegated colour changes that create an sort of fair-isle effect. After felting it forms a sturdy fabric that is perfect for bags, hats and slippers.
This yarn is normally priced at £2.50 a ball, but we’ve currently got it on special offer at just £1.99 a ball.

Rico Superba Bamboo – a new sock yarn
Rico Superba Bamboo is a new sock yarn from Rico. Made from 50% merino, 25% polyamide and 25% bamboo, it is one of the softest self-striping sock yarns that I’ve come across and I can’t wait to make a pair of socks with it (once I’ve finished all my other WIPs!)
It has a lovely sheen to it and comes in some really wearable shades. At £7 a ball, it’s not a bad price for sock yarn either.

The widely anticipated new mixed shades of Rico Can Can yarn arrived in the shop yesterday. There are nine new variegated shades which I’m sure will be just as popular as the existing colours.
The new colours are: Black Mix, Blue/Pink Mix, Turquoise Mix, Berry Mix, Blue Mix, Green Mix, Red Mix, Brown Mix and Plum Mix
If you’re looking for any of the existing colours, we will be getting a new delivery in January.

How to knit with Rico Pompon yarn
We recently started stocking Rico Pompon yarn which is a fun and soft yarn, ideal for snuggly scarves or pram blankets or cushions.., all sorts of things really. The trouble is, it’s not obvious how to knit with it. I was certainly put off when I first came across it earlier this year. To help knitters learn how to knit with it, I’ve created a tutorial video which shows you how to cast on, knit with it and then cast off.

Plum Fun Bag
This week I had an email from a customer with photos of a lovely little bag she’d knitted with Rico Creative Poems Aran and then felted in the washing machine. I thought you might like to see it. The pattern is the Entrelac Envelope Bag by Anne Carroll Gilmour, which you can buy to download on Ravelry.

Rico Superba Poems Sock Yarn

The colours in Rico’s Creative Poems Aran yarn, reminiscent of some Noro yarns, are much admired by knitters and now you can have those same bright colour changes in a new sock yarn – Superba Poems.

One 100g ball should be enough to knit a pair of socks.

An affordable, quality yarn for knitting children’s clothes
One of the new yarns we are now stocking is Rico’s Kids Classic Aran. It’s cheaper than Rico’s Soft Merino Aran as this yarn is a mix of acrylic and polyamide. However it does feel just as soft and if you’re knitting for children then you’ll be glad of something a bit more hardwearing as well as something you can throw in the washing machine.
There’s a really nice pattern book to go with it too called Rico Kids Book 1 which contains 20 patterns for children aged 4-16. At just £3.95 it’s a bit of a bargain in my opinion. Pictures of the patterns contain in Rico Kids are on the website.

Rico Soft Merino Aran yarn
All the yarn companies seem to have launched a new aran weight yarn this season and we decide to stock Rico Design’s new Soft Merino Aran because not only is it a good price (£3.50 per 50g ball), it feels lovely and should be a joy to knit with as it’s 100% merino wool.
The accompanying pattern book, Knitting Idea 13 (Strickidee 13), has nine patterns including cardigans, sweaters and accessories.

New shades of Rico Creative Poems Aran
I almost forgot to write about the new shades of Rico’s Creative Poems Aran yarn that arrived recently.
Rico Creative Poems Aran is a multi-coloured single-ply aran weight yarn which is 100% wool. The mixture of colours comes in long stripes and is ideal for warm hats and scarves, wrist warmers or even larger garments. A member of our knitting club made a ribbed scarf using Poems Aran recently and it looks brilliant. I’ll try and get a photo of it to show you.
You can download a free pattern from Rico here.
