I have a thing about bags. For some women it’s shoes, for me… it’s bags. But an everyday sort of bag has to be substantial which is why we thought it would be good to stock these nice canvas fabrics from the Pure collection by Sweetwater, along with a couple of Sweetwater’s bag patterns, one for a small purse, one for a larger handbag.

The Patchwork Forest wall hanging kit

The Patchwork Forest is a pattern from New Zealand company House on the Hill which we started selling last year. We have now made this pattern available in a kit form as well – the pattern plus all the fabric pieces that you will need to complete this lovely quilted wall hanging.

The pattern is available on it’s own for £8.50 or as a kit for £22.

In addition to Tally and Tripp, we also recently received Melly and Me patterns for this friendly little alien.

If you’ve not tried any of the Melly and Me sewing patterns then do browse the patterns we have available and give one a go. The instructions are very straight forward to follow and even a novice sewer will be able to create one of their soft toys or bags in no time at all.

A package arrived from Australia today containing new supplies of Melly and Me patterns including some new patterns – both toys and bags.

For tips on making some of the toys, Melly and Me’s blog is worth a visit. They also add pictures of their toys in different fabrics which help to inspire.

He’s so cuddly, but you could equally fill him with beans or rice and use him as a doorstop or bookend.

As I mentioned recently, we’ve just started stocking Melly & Me sewing patterns in the shop now and my Mum immediately grabbed one of the toy patterns, Rudy, and made this little fellow with some Christmas fabric in her stash.

Melly & Me are two sisters from Australia who have joined forces to produce a collection of wonderful sewing patterns for bags, quilts and soft toys. We’re delighted to now stock a large selection of patterns from their range. We love the toys in particular and are already making Rudy the reindeer with some Christmas fabric from our stash!
